The GLAAD Wrap: Trailer for 'My Policeman', teasers of 'Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery' and 'Star Trek: Picard', new music by FLETCHER, and more!

Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.

1.) Amazon Prime Video has unveiled the official trailer for My Policeman, heading to select theaters October 21 and the streamer November 4. The film chronicles the forbidden love triangle between policeman Tom (Harry Styles), teacher Marion (non-binary actor Emma Corrin), and museum cuator Patrick (out actor David Dawson), as they embark on an emotional journey in 1950’s Britain— a time when homosexuality was illegal in the UK. Flash forward to the 1990’s, where the trio has one last chance to repair the damage of the past. Check out the trailer below!

2.) Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, starring out actress and singer Janelle Monáe, ahead of its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival this month. In the Knives Out sequel, Detective Benoit (Daniel Craig) travels to Greece to delve into a mystery involving a new cast of colorful suspects. Find the teaser below and watch Glass Onion December 23! In more film news, the cast has been announced for Me, My Mom, & Sharmila, the feature directorial debut of out Muslim filmmkaer Fawzia Mirza. The mother daughter story will star Amrit Kaur as Azra, who travels from Canada to Pakistan to bury her father (Hamza Haq) and try to connect with her mother (Nimra Bucha). 

3.) Out Emmy-nominated actress and producer Rain Valdez has cast her first feature Re-Live, with out stars Jamie Clayton and Chris Renfro joining previously announced queer filmmaker Rachel Leyco amongst the ensemble. The GLAAD List film tells the story of Rowena (Valdez), a trans actress who returns home to Guam for her high school reunions “do-over week” to live out her long-lost childhood dream of becoming a cheerleader. But she must also face a different kind of reunion, with her estranged family. Clayton plays Kyra, Rowena’s manager who convinces her to go back home if she wants her acting job back, and Renfro plays Dawn, a non-binary and queer firecracker who helps Rowena get into the cheer squad.

4.) Paramount Plus has dropped a final sneak peek of the third season of Star Trek: Picard, ahead of its February 16 premiere! In the season, Jean-Luc is reunited with the former crew on the U.S.S Titan, including returning queer characters Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) and Raffi (Michelle Hurd). Check out the video below! In other teaser news, ABC has released a first-look video of hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy ahead of its season nineteen premiere October 6. The clip introduces a brand new slate of first-year surgical residents and interns, including Jules Millin (bisexual actress Adelaide Kane) and Mika Yasuda (queer actress Midori Francis); watch the teaser here!

5.) DreamWorks Animation has announced the cast, set the premiere date, and released the trailer for the adventure comedy Abominable and The Invisible City. The 10-episode series, inspired by the 2019 film Abominable, stars out Vito Russo Award-winning actor and activist Alan Cumming, Chloe Bennet, Tenzing Trainor, and Michelle Wong. Cumming voices the character Burnish, who was the central antagonist turned anti-hero in the aforementioned film. Abominable and the Invisible City premieres on Peacock and Hulu October 5; check out the trailer below! In more Peacock news, out Emmy and Tony winner Cherry Jones has been added to the streamers upcoming mystery drama Poker Face, alongside previously announced out actresses Clea DuVall and Jameela Jamil!

6.) Amazon Freevee has announced the forthcoming comedy Clean Slate, starring and written by trans icon and LGBTQ activist Laverne Cox and comedian George Wallace. The series follows old-school car wash owner Henry (Wallace), who is excited that his child is finally returning home to Alabama after 17 years. However, when the child he thought was a son returns as a determined, proud, trans woman named Desiree (Cox), Henry must do a lot of soul searching. 

7.) Netflix has announced an October 7 release date of the third and final season of the sitcom Derry Girls. The series follows five Catholic school students, including lesbian ‘voice-of-reason’ Clare Devlin (Nicola Coughlan), as they navigate their teenge years during the end of the Troubles in Derry, Northern Ireland. Check out newly released images below! Additionally, HBO’s dark coming-of-age drama Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin has been renewed for a second season. This season of the Pretty Little Liars spin-off continues to explore the friendships, romances, and secrets of the new set of Little Liars, featuring transgender Millwood High student Ash, portrayed by out actor Jordan Gonzalez. 

8.) Good Morning America has announced the season thirty-one cast of Dancing with the Stars, including their first-ever drag queen, out actor and performer D.J. "Shangela" Pierce! Watch the Drag Race alum compete for the mirror ball trophy September 19 on Disney+. In more casting news, out Kinky Boots actor J. Harrison Ghee has been set to star in the Billy Porter-directed episode of Fox’s anthology series Accused. Based on the BBC series of the same name, the series begins in the courtroom, with viewers knowing nothing about the accused person’s crime or how they ended up on trial. Porter’s episode tells the story of a drag queen’s whirlwind affair and its devastating aftermath through a series of flashbacks.

9.) Queer superstar FLETCHER has released a new single "Sting", the third song from her highly-anticipated album Girl of My Dreams, out September 16. Stream the song here and watch the lyric video below!

10.) The 74th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards winners have been announced. On the first night, Queer Eye took home its fifth Emmy, We’re Here was awarded for its wardrobe and makeup, and RuPaul Charles won ‘Outstanding Reality Host’, making him the person with the most wins in this category and the most-awarded person of color in the show’s history! Night two was led by LGBTQ-inclusive programs Euphoria, The White Lotus and Stranger Things, who all took home five wins. Additional winners include Dopesick, How I Met Your Father, The White Lotus, Colman Domingo (Guest Actor Drama Series–Euphoria), Schmigadoon!, Nathan Lane (Guest Actor Comedy Series–Only Murders in the Building), Hacks, and What We Do In the Shadows; check out the complete list of winners here and the photo gallery here. Watch the award show September 11-27 on Hulu! In more Emmy news, The Television Academy has revealed its first batch of presenters for Monday’s 74th annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Out presenters include Oscar-winning actress Ariana DeBose and Hacks breakout star Hannah Einbinder! Watch the ceremony live on NBC at 5pm PT/8pm ET.
